'Shucks' : a crash course
'Shucks' is a silent film, but it does have music (a score) behind the visuals. Just like the wave of films in the 1920's, I wanted to pay homage to that art-form and also attempt to help resurrect it.
I have always been infatuated by the masterfully artistic expressionism that is served to viewers in Silent Films. So much is left to ones own personal interpretation, the intriguing nature of curiosity and the abstract and universal way that these films can transcend the boundaries and barriers of languages is a superior way of story telling.
My film, 'Shucks' is a little under 1 hour and was filmed in Black & White with the locations being in Asheboro, NC. The score is captivating and eerie, one of which I composed using my 15+ years experience in the music scene.
We would recommend ages 12 and above for 'Shucks' however there is no vulgarity, violence or sexuality so a younger crowd than 12 may be considered. There are lots of abstract and slow burning sequences that include pulsating lights and some symbolism for addictions, internal conflicts and a few creepy visuals.
